Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a Wedding Dog Attendant?

A wedding dog attendant is your pup’s personal concierge. We handle transport, potty breaks, care, and coordination—so they can be part of your special day without stress.

  • How is wedding day dog care different from traditional pet sitting?

Weddings are busy, unpredictable, and full of stimulation. We specialize in the timing and logistics required to include your dog in the celebration—without distracting you or your guests.

  • How do clients and their families benefit from hiring Barking Down the Aisle?

You focus on your vows. Your guests enjoy the party. We focus on your dog—keeping them happy, calm, and present for the big moments without putting the burden on family or friends.

  • How are you different from Rover or other pet sitters?

We’re not just sitters—we’re wedding specialists. We understand timelines, ceremony flow, photography, and how to help dogs stay comfortable in the middle of it all.

  • Do clients need to sign a contract?

Yes. To protect everyone involved (especially your pup), we require a signed service agreement outlining responsibilities, care expectations, and liability.

  • Can you walk my dog down the aisle?

We can! Or we’ll make sure a trusted friend or family member is prepped for that picture-perfect walk.

  • What if my dog pulls on the leash?

No worries! Let us know your pup’s walking habits during our initial consultation and we’ll accommodate accordingly. A little extra pep isn’t a dealbreaker.

  • What’s your favourite part of the wedding day?

That heart-melting moment when your pup locks eyes with you from the aisle. Gets us every time.

  • Who are your ideal clients?

Dog-obsessed couples who treat their pets like family and want them involved in the most meaningful way.

  • When might someone not be a good fit?

We do not work with severely aggressive or red-zone dogs. Their safety—and everyone else’s—comes first.

  • Are you insured?

Yes. We carry professional pet care insurance for peace of mind and full coverage.

  • Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?

Absolutely. Love is love—and all love is welcome here. We proudly support and celebrate LGBTQ+ couples and are honoured to be part of your special day.

We believe meeting your dog in advance is essential to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for everyone, so we include this as a key part of our service. For clients outside our travel radius, we also offer virtual consultations to start the process and confirm the fit before meeting in person.

  • Is a deposit required to book?

Yes, a non-refundable 25% down deposit secures your wedding date and goes toward your final balance.

  • When is the full payment due?

The remaining balance is due 14 days before your wedding date. This ensures we have everything confirmed and can focus fully on making your dog’s role in your celebration stress-free and special.

  • How far in advance should I book?

Ideally 6–12 months out. We do take short-notice bookings if availability allows—reach out ASAP!
